Ronald G. Askin is Professor of Industrial Engineering and Interim Director of Computing, Informatics and Decision Systems Engineering at Arizona State University.  He received a BS in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University, and MS in Operations Research and Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology.  Dr. Askin joined ASU in 2006.  Prior to that, he served on the faculties of the University of Arizona and the University of Iowa.  He has also been a visiting faculty member at North Carolina State University.  Dr. Askin is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Engineers.  He has previously served as a member of the IIE Board of Trustees, President of the IIE Council of Fellows, Chair of the Association of Chairs of Operations Research Departments, Chair of the INFORMS Manufacturing and Services Operations Management Society, Chair of the ASQ Statistics Division, and is a former editor of IIE Transactions on Design and Manufacturing.  He has authored over 80 publications on the application of operations research and statistical methods to the design and analysis of integrated production control systems.  He has received several awards for his textbooks and research, including a NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award.
