First-year student FAQs
May I get involved in Entrepreneurship + Innovation programs as a first year student?
Yes! In fact, you may start your entrepreneurial journey before your classes start by attending our E2 Camp, where you’ll be challenged to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset and meet some of our E+I faculty, staff, and student leaders.
May I take an entrepreneurship class as a first year student?
Yes! All students will be exposed to entrepreneurial methods and resources within their introductory engineering classes, but we also suggest that you consider taking FSE 294 – Entrepreneurial Pathways, a 1-credit hour elective course, which will help you discover and prioritize all of the amazing E+I resources we have to offer at Fulton and ASU.
I have an idea for the next big thing! May I get help launching my own startup as a first year student?
Yes! All ASU students, regardless of major, learning modality, or academic level may join Venture Devils, our ASU-wide student startup support program at any time!

Yes, we have a dedicated team of student leaders, mentors, faculty, and staff who will be available to you throughout your entrepreneurial adventure, wherever you may be! Feel free to email us at [email protected] to schedule a virtual meeting with us.
What is the best elective course for entrepreneurially-minded online engineering students?
We suggest that you consider enrolling in our popular online FSE 301 – Entrepreneur and Value Creation and FSE 501 – Technology Entrepreneurship elective courses. You should also peruse many of our other entrepreneurial online course offerings under our Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (TEM) degree course prefix.

I’m an upper-division/ graduate student. Is it too late for me to get involved in E+I @ Fulton classes and programs?
No! It’s never too late to get involved. Register to attend our next event and we’ll get you plugged in ASAP.
I’d like to advance my entrepreneurial idea while at ASU, but if I do, will I need to share ownership of my startup with the University?
As an ASU student inventor, you typically own and control all of your own intellectual property (IP), unless it was developed in a research lab.
I’m interested in entrepreneurship and innovation, but I don’t know where to start. What should be my first step?

I’m interested in startups, but I think I’d rather work for one than start one myself. Can you help?
Yes! If you’re a current student, consider taking FSE 294 – Entrepreneurial Pathways, a 1-credit hour elective course, which focuses on “working for a startup” among other broad entrepreneurial topics. Also, don’t forget that our amazing Career Services Center is a great resource too.
