Biodesign Institute

The Biodesign Institute complex is a 350,000 sq. ft. facility designed to foster the fusion of previously distinct areas of science. It was named 2006 Laboratory of the Year by R&D Magazine in an international competition.

The ability to study and construct systems at nanoscale – a size 1,000 times smaller than a human hair – has unlocked a door to discovery. The institute’s mission is to accelerate these discoveries and translate them into useful applications by integrating studies between biotechnology, biomedicine, nanotechnology, information technology and cognitive science.
