Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering offers several summer programs designed to develop team-building skills, provide participants the opportunity to interact with current faculty, staff and students, and, in some cases, tour ASU laboratories and industry facilities. Program eligibility for YES programs is based on the following:

  • Scholastic performance/course work with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
  • A strong interest in mathematics and science.
  • Letter of recommendation from math or science teacher or MESA advisor.
  • Underrepresented student populations are strongly encouraged to apply.

Program Fee Waivers for YES Programs

There are a limited number of fee waivers available. Please submit a letter indicating the reason for the waiver request. Please indicate any additional extenuating circumstances in your letter. You must also include one of the following:

  • Copy of family 1040, OR
  • Letter from school counselor indicating that you participate in a free lunch program, OR
  • SAT/ACT fee waiver form.

StudentsYouth Engineering Summer (YES) Program

High School Program: A two-week residential program that helps high school students better understand engineering and encourages them to pursue studies to prepare them for a major in engineering. It provides a survey of engineering disciplines and careers. Students also engage in engineering projects and competitions.

Program type: residential, room and board, classroom materials and supplies will be provided. Students are released on the weekend; programming does not take place over the weekend.

Other program notes: Students will complete hands-on engineering labs, tour ASU engineering facilities, as well as industry. Focus includes engineering, team building and leadership skills.

studentsMiddle School Program: a one-week commuter program designed to excite middle school students about engineering. Students get involved in projects ranging from LEGO robotics to rocket launching.

Program type: non-residential, students must be picked up and dropped off daily 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.

Other program notes: students will explore the many fields of engineering through hands-on activities, games, short lectures and laboratory visits.

Camp Game

Youth on computerCamp Game is a unique experience for middle and high school students in intensive video game creation, visualization and production. Students will work with a faculty experienced in the game industry to create concepts and prototypes for games using the latest software, hardware and development tools. More information

 

 

 

Robotics Camp

RobotsASU’s Robotics Camp is a summer program series designed for high school students who intend to pursue a science and engineering career. Camp instructors use component-based robot construction, robotics programming and Alice game programming as a vehicle to teach the latest engineering design concepts and computing technologies.
