fellowships

graduate student support

Fellowships through ASU and external resources and research/teaching assistant positions offer graduate students many alternatives to fund education expenses—often for multiple years or even the full course of study. Fellowship resources are limited, and completing the application is not a guarantee that students will receive fellowship funding. Many fellowships require U.S. citizenship or the right to work in the United States.

research assistants and teaching assistants: Assistantships provide an excellent opportunity to help finance graduate education, further individual study and contribute to ASU’s research and teaching efforts. While vacancies for assistantships may be posted on a college’s website, most assistant positions are generally found through direct relationships with faculty.

In addition to tuition, assistantships provide a monthly stipend, which can vary depending upon the responsibilities of the position. Research assistants perform part-time research under the direct supervision of faculty. Teaching assistants perform instructional duties such as lecturing, assisting in laboratory classes, grading tests and papers.
