The principal evaluation criteria for each award category is a follows:

IMPACT

Award for Innovation: the implementation of radical and/or incremental changes to products, processes or services to creatively solve a problem.

Award for Mentoring: an individuals’ ability to guide another staff member’s professional growth through methods such as instructing, coaching, providing experiences, modeling,l advising, and serving as a leader of a learning experience.

Award for Performance: progress made toward performance goals and the breadth and challenge level of the member’s performance plan as reflected in the most recent performance period.

Award for Achievement: the nature of the individuals’ undertaking, the scope and outcomes of the project, and the benefit to Engineering. Examples include completing an academic degree, presenting at a conference, taking a leadership role in a national organization, or organizing a volunteer effort on behalf of the college.

Award for Customer Service: demonstrating a high level of personal accountability, positive attitude and service that exceeds the needs of both internal and external customers. A proactive attitude that can be summed up as: “I care and I can do!”

Award for Teamwork: the promotion of outstanding achievement on the job with actions that constitute performance beyond expected standards, exceptional contributions toward the effectiveness and efficiency of operations that contribute to the maximum utilization of departmental resources, and outstanding service to other employees or visitors with actions that are helpful and/or make a good impression on others.

Excellence

The principal evaluation criteria for the Excellence Award include exceptional leadership ability, commitment to the School’s vision and mission, open lines of communication within his/her department, Engineering and throughout the University, maintaining clear goals and expectations that hold staff and self accountable, creating a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging professional development, managing assets and resources to support institutional goals.
