School of Computing, Informatics, and Decision Systems Engineering

The School of Computing, Informatics, and Decision Systems Engineering houses three main academic disciplines: Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to:

  • offering educational programs that prepare the next generation of computer science, computer systems and industrial engineering leaders,
  • creating new knowledge and technology that contributes to solving the major problems facing modern society,
  • providing an environment that fosters academic excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and
  • promoting an entrepreneurial spirit that enhances the world community’s quality of life.

Our outstanding faculty leads the way in exploring the foundations of information science and then using that knowledge to develop tools that transform the way we live and work.  From data to decisions, we cover the spectrum for designing the modern, information-driven society, engaging in the fundamental activities of sensing, optimizing, controlling and communicating.  Computing serves as the engine that drives this transformation, linking together the fundamental activities, and, underlies virtually all of our activities.

Our active research groups include algorithm design, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, cognitive computing, data base systems, data mining, distributed systems, embedded systems, information assurance, multimedia arts and spatial modeling, networking, optimization, production logistics, and statistical modeling. Specialty programs are offered in gaming, informatics, and systems engineering.  So, whether it be constructing reliable networks, extracting knowledge from high dimensional data sets, ensuring information integrity, building intelligent devices, improving health care, understanding social networks, designing business processes, or developing software that maximizes your capability, we have the expertise.

I invite you to explore our Web site to learn more about our people, research, and educational programs. Then please come join us in our quest for better living through information.
