Accelerated degree in industrial engineering
Accelerated degree in industrial engineering
The industrial engineering department offers an accelerated B.S.E.-M.S. or M.S.E. program as part of the undergraduate industrial engineering curriculum. This program is particularly suited for students with strong academic backgrounds who are motivated to pursue independent research. Participants will have an opportunity to work in a laboratory/research environment and engage in theoretical and/or experimental work with faculty and doctoral student mentors.
How does it work?
The merge (or integration) between the two programs occurs when students select their Career Focus classes for the bachelor's program. The Career Focus courses will be 500-level graduate courses and will apply toward the 30-hour master's degree (in addition to applying toward the 120-hour bachelor's degree). Once the bachelor's degree is completed, students will need an additional 20 credit hours to earn the master's degree.
What are the qualifications?
- A minimum of 75 credit hours of course work applicable to ASU's B.S.E. in industrial engineering degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 (4.00 scale) or better must be completed before beginning the joint degree program.
- A minimum of two semesters of full-time enrollment in industrial engineering is required for admission to the program.
- Students must have completed CSE 200 or CSE 205, MAT 242, IEE 380, IEE 385, and IEE 376 with a GPA of 2.50 or higher and no grade below a "C" (2.00).
- Students will not be required to take the GRE.
- Student applicants will be required to submit a written statement of purpose and provide two faculty recommendations to complete the admission process.
Application Procedure
Students must apply for admission to the program through the School of Computing, Informatics and Decision Systems Engineering (CIDSE) and the ASU Graduate College by submitting an application form for the integrated program in industrial engineering. Interested students should meet with their academic advisor to learn more about the program and how to apply.
Applications must be accompanied by:
- An official transcript.
- A plan indicating the consenting faculty advisor and supervisory committee.*
- An integrated plan of study (iPOS) leading to the dual degrees.
- Three letters of recommendation from ASU faculty members.
Interested students should meet with their academic advisor to learn more about the program.
